What we do
The Sponsored Breaks Story
After a long, tense day in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, I (Simon) found myself exhausted and in need of a break on the drive home. I thought about the strain so many others were under, especially those in our armed forces — individuals who sacrifice so much, putting themselves in harm’s way and often bearing the scars of that commitment.
Many face not only physical risks but also the lingering effects of trauma, with PTSD becoming an invisible burden after enduring intense and harrowing experiences. It was clear that if I, on the front line in the prison service, needed a break, others on the frontline would also be need.
That’s when I thought of campervans as at the time no one could go abroad, and the freedom campervans give is unreal. I began researching hire options, but the prices were sky-high — a reflection of the demand during lockdown.
Even with my stable position, I couldn’t afford the going rate, and I realised that others in more difficult circumstances were likely facing the same financial barriers.
Then, the idea struck: what if these breaks could be free? Supported by sponsors, who would, in turn, gain exposure across both physical and digital spaces. But how? The solution seemed elusive until one day, sitting behind a bus plastered with ads, it hit me. Advertising.
If we could secure sponsors willing to help fund these breaks in exchange for nationwide exposure, this dream could become a reality.
Sponsors are the heart of this initiative. I am deeply grateful for the generosity of each one, and I’m committed to showcasing their contributions. The campervan itself doubles as a mobile billboard for our supporters, and we proudly share sponsor information across our social media and website to recognise their kindness.
In a time of illness, loss, and emotional fatigue that feels endless, I hope this initiative can be a glimmer of hope. By offering a chance to escape, we can provide a well-deserved break for those in need of respite, free from financial strain—a small beam of sunlight cutting through the clouds.
Reconnect with the countryside, discover new horizons, and create lasting memories on a journey designed to support and uplift.

Craig is still serving in The Royal Navy but has been medically downgraded after suffering a devastating breakdown in 2023. It has been an exceptionally difficult and exhausting year for us after his illness and we have had so many dark times that we wondered if we could ever manage to relax and enjoy ourselves again after everything we had been through.
We knew we needed a break, but couldn’t afford a big holiday away, especially once Craig is discharged later this year.
We travelled through Wales and had a fantastic time getting back to nature, as well as seeing all the majesty this beautiful country has to offer.
We have had an amazing trip – you have been so helpful and given us a chance to enjoy just being in the moment, which is something we haven’t been able to do in a very long time.”
